Mindfulness, especially when we are just starting to practice, is primarily a mental training.
Just as we pick up any new habit, learn a skill, or acquire new knowledge, we first need to understand the way the new field works.
Then, to achieve results, we need constant and continuous practice. Through practice we acquire skill, certainty and stability - so-called experiential knowledge.
The process is the same when it comes to our brain or our emotions. If we want to change the way we think, or react, the change we want to bring about in our life happens through mental training.
